Designing your home is an exciting adventure, but let's face it, without the proper guidance, it can also be overwhelming.
You might wonder about the ins and outs of working with an interior designer. Should you hire one or try to tackle it on your own? And if you decide to work with a designer, where do you begin? In this blog post, I’ll answer all these questions and more. Plus, I'll walk you through the steps and share everything you need to know about working with an interior designer.

Hiring an Interior Designer, yes or no?
An Interior Designer's sole purpose is to look at your vision and transform your space to reflect it.
Their architecture and interior design background help you make the right choices for your home and save you time, money, and stress. You will have an expert’s guidance to help you transform your home into
something that reflects your personality and lifestyle. Talk about something that can change your mood in a second.
That’s why I advise my clients to leave their home’s design in the hands of an expert who knows your style, what suits you best, and what will look best in your space. Whether it's a home furnishings project or a complete renovation, significant investments may come, so don’t make the costly mistake of wanting to save while doing it all by yourself and hire a professional to guide you.
If you’re ready to jump, here is the process we follow at An Inspiring Home.
Design Project Stages
To achieve the best design, you need a plan in motion that will guarantee your project’s success. That’s why, at An Inspiring Home,
we follow this process with each of our full service clients.

1. Discovery Call
The first step is to
book a discovery call with
us. It’s a brief call to determine if we are the right fit for your project. At An Inspiring Home, we get to know you better by asking a few questions about your design project. That will help us guide you in the right direction and assist you as needed.
2. Design Consultation
A
Design Consultation is a great way to evaluate your project and provide the best recommendations for moving forward.
At the consultation, you’ll have the opportunity to have the guidance and expertise of a designer for two hours. During that time, we will examine your space, get to know you even better and develop a design goal, an estimated budget, and a timeframe for your project.
It’s the perfect opportunity to ask all your questions and make the best decision for your home.

3. Kickoff Meeting
Consider this meeting the opening ceremony of your project. Before this meeting, we’ll send you a design questionnaire to understand your design style and lifestyle better. We will also chat about your vision, take measurements and photos, and talk through all the specific elements of your project.
4. Concept
A design concept is a guide that will shape the entire design process and provides a clear direction and a cohesive vision for the project. At An Inspiring Home,
our concept phase involves bringing your design to life and communicating our ideas to clients to ensure we’ve achieved the desired goal. We include a presentation or demo for our clients and make any adjustments as needed.

5. Design
Perhaps the most essential part of our whole process.
You won't hear much from us during this phase and that's because we're hard at work pulling together all the elements to bring your design to life. We're creating floor plans, elevations, and sourcing fixtures and finishes. Once everything has been approved at the client presentation, we begin the ordering process for you.
6. Management
In the management phase,
we ensure everything is going according to plan. We act as project managers or intermediates between your contractor and architect to check that everything is running smoothly. If there are some delays or events in this phase, we’ll inform you and present you with our best suggestions moving forward.
Between the concept, design, and management phases, it can take up to several weeks, so make sure you are informed of any mishaps or changes by
hiring an Interior Designer to have some peace of mind for your project.
7. Installation
Lastly, installation
is the final phase where the magic happens!
We coordinate the delivery of the items ordered through our company, and we install everything on-site to ensure everything is in place. This is where we put the final touches and leave everything as envisioned. My favorite part is watching my client’s reactions and having them feel comfortable in their own space.
Whether it’s new construction, home building, or remodeling, I highly recommend
hiring a professional to guide you through each one of these stages and guarantee complete satisfaction. Remember that when you invest in An Inspiring Home, we will work together to make your design dreams come true.
