Before we get to the actual planning or design, there’s one thing we always bring up at the beginning of each project: our client’s lifestyle. This fact goes beyond just picking a design style they favor or the right elements for their home. It’s a holistic approach that allows us to create something truly unique and functional for our clients.
So, when it comes to choosing a
design service, we make that decision based on our client’s needs and wants, ensuring it is the right fit for what they’re looking for. In our experience,
two paths work best
when hiring a designer for your project. In this blog post, we dive deep into each, share our clients’ experiences, and explain how we provided the right solution for their needs.
Which Designer Service is Right for You?
While some clients want a completely hands-off experience, with everything taken care of for them, others prefer to be more involved and just need guidance along the way.
The good news about these two choices is that there’s no “right” or “wrong” choice, just the option that works best for you. At An Inspiring Home, our goal is to provide you with a seamless experience from start to finish.
Based on each client needs, we have two paths that we offer to them:
- Full Service Design: A unique, tailored experience from start to finish. We take your dream and vision and turn them into an actual plan to provide you with a solution that makes sense for your lifestyle. It's a turn-key experience.
- Designer for a Day: It’s our VIP day offering, where you have our expertise and guidance for a complete day, and we help you make the right decisions for your design.
We’ll break down each one for you, and at the end of this post, you’ll know exactly which one is best for you.
Full Service Design: A Stress-Free Experience
Full-service design is exactly what it sounds like; we handle everything from start to finish, so you don’t have to.
This service is a great fit if you want your home to feel beautifully designed without the stress of managing all the details.
Full Service is right for you if:
- You’re a
busy professional or working mom with a full schedule
- You’d
rather spend your time with your family—playing games, traveling, or simply relaxing—than managing a design project.
- You typically
hire out services like lawn care, house cleaning, or grocery delivery.
- You want a
“snap your fingers, and it’s done” experience.
- You’re comfortable
trusting your designer to guide the process and make decisions.
- You know what you like, but you’re not sure how to bring it all together.
- You’re looking for a complete transformation of a room—or your entire home.
- You want
a polished, magazine-worthy look with high-quality or custom furnishings.
With full service, we take care of:
- Space planning
- Sourcing materials and furnishings
- Ordering and tracking
- Coordinating with contractors
- Installation and styling
Our goal is to make your renovation journey exciting so you can walk into a finished home that feels exactly right for you and your family.
Take a look at our Project Cozy Chic Bungalow, where our client came to us feeling that her family room and bedroom lacked warmth and a cohesive, finished look. We knew from the beginning they needed all hands-on deck, so we recommended our Full-Service Design.
We helped complete the spaces with new furnishings that brought comfort and character, added wallpaper for depth & texture, and gave her cherished heirloom accent tables new life through refinishing.
The result is a home that now feels like our client: cozy, chic, polished, and complete.
Designer for a Day: Guidance When You Need It
Designer for a Day is perfect for homeowners who want professional input while still staying involved in the process.
Think of it as focused, expert guidance to help you move forward with confidence.
Designer for a Day is right for you if:
- You have time to devote to your project and don’t mind doing some of the legwork
- You enjoy being hands-on and want to stay in control of the process.
- You’re comfortable
shopping, ordering, and installing on your own.
- You just
need help finishing off a space or two.
- You know your style, but want reassurance that you’re making the right choices.
- You’d like a designer to join you at a tile, slab, or lighting showrooms to confirm selections for a renovation or new build.
Our main focus during Designer for a Day has been assisting our clients in selecting finishes for their bath or kitchen and making sure everything looks cohesive and functional.
This service is especially helpful when you’re feeling stuck or overwhelmed by decisions and just need a professional to guide you in the right direction.
How to Choose the Right Fit
If you’re trying to decide between the two, ask yourself this: Do I want to manage the details—or have someone handle everything for me?
If you love being involved and have the time, Designer for a Day can be a great fit for you. If your schedule is full and you want a stress-free experience, Full Service is likely the better option.
For a quick reference, here’s a quick guide that can help you make a decision:

We designed both services with the same goal in mind: to help you create a home that feels beautiful, functional, and uniquely yours.
