There’s something about stepping into a hotel bathroom that instantly makes your morning feel a little more luxurious and glamorous. What if we told you that you can have that same feeling every day at home?
For this primary bathroom in Project Pristine Luxe, our clients had a specific goal in mind: they wanted their bathroom to feel like a high-end hotel, but without anything overly elaborate. They wanted something simple, timeless, functional, and easy to maintain.
That request was the basis for this bathroom design. Read on for the details behind this renovation, including the challenges, how we approached it, and the end goal that left our clients satisfied.

Project Pristine Luxe: Bathroom Reveal
Just like the kitchen in this project, the main bathroom felt dated and lacked personality.
Our clients knew from the beginning that this bathroom needed an update, but they also knew not everything needed replacing.
Based on this request, our design decisions included:
- Retaining the existing vanities: The current ones were in great condition, so we kept them and created a cohesive look around them.
- Replacing tile: Tile can really make a difference in a bathroom, so we chose a seamless option that matched our high-end look goal.
- Modernize with the right elements: We changed the countertops, mirrors, lighting, hardware, and plumbing fixtures.
- Easy maintenance: One key challenge in this design was creating high-end luxury while keeping the room simple and easy to clean.
- Quality materials: We added thoughtful, functional details that made a difference from the original design.
With all this in mind, keep reading to see how we created this hotel-like luxury bathroom in the comfort of home.
1. Keeping What Works and Investing Where It Matters
You don’t need to start from scratch to create your dream home. In fact, one of our client’s most frequently asked questions is whether they can keep some of their original pieces in their design. The answer depends on whether the existing piece integrates seamlessly with our current vision and is still in great condition. If it’s stood the test of time, it may be time for an upgrade.
In this bathroom, the original vanities were in good condition, so we didn't need to replace them. We only updated the hardware and changed the countertops.
These small changes made a huge difference! Our advice is to always
invest in the elements that will have the greatest visual and functional impact.
2. Selecting the Right Materials
Here’s the thing: when choosing your materials,
invest in natural, high-quality options. You’ll instantly notice the difference and keep your design simple and timeless.
Marble was an easy choice for creating the high-end, hotel-like feel our clients wanted. We used marble tile throughout the bathroom and carried the look onto the countertops for a cohesive design. We love how the marble's natural variations make every surface feel a little different and unique. It gives the bathroom that luxurious feel our clients wanted while still keeping everything simple, clean, and timeless.
3. Choose Timeless Finishes
When you’re investing in a bathroom renovation, you want the finishes to feel just as beautiful throughout time. For this space, we chose polished nickel plumbing fixtures because they have a classic, timeless look that worked perfectly with the high-end hotel feel our clients wanted.
We also updated the hardware and lighting, which gave the existing vanity a fresh look without replacing them.
Plumbing fixtures are something you use every single day, so this is also one of those areas where we believe it’s worth investing in quality. The polished nickel, marble, and updated lighting brought everything together.
4. The Star of the Bathroom: A Larger Marble Shower
The original shower had so much more potential, so we made it our starting point.
We removed the existing half wall, expanded the shower, and added full glass doors, which immediately made the space feel larger, more open, and much more exclusive.
We added marble tile in the shower, along with thoughtful details like a custom niche with beautiful trim work and additional details around the shower base. Taking the tile up as high as possible also helped give the shower that finished, high-end look we were going for.
Dual shower heads are the perfect addition to recreate the hotel experience and work well for keeping it clean.
5. Add Warmth, Color, and Texture
With so much marble and a neutral palette, we wanted to bring in a little warmth and personality, too. We included some color and texture with a runner. It’s a small detail, but it makes the room feel more inviting.
We always recommend adding a little greenery to balance the space out. It really complements the overall look and luxurious feel.
Recreating the Hotel Look at Home
Our goal was clear from the beginning: to have our clients retreat to their personal spa from the comfort of their own home.
At the end of the day, the goal was for our clients to walk in and experience that same calm, elevated feeling you get when you step into a hotel bathroom, only now, they get to enjoy it every day at home.
The best part is that we created that feeling while still designing a space that works for real life. Beautiful and practical don't have to be two separate things.
If you’re thinking about a kitchen or bathroom renovation and aren't sure how to start, or what's the right choice regarding materials, finishes, fixtures, and everything else, we can guide you with our design process, from the initial vision until the reality matches your goals.
