Project Room for Everyone Reveal - Part 1

One of the things I love most about interior design is creating homes that support our clients’ lifestyles. Every home is different, and when a space is designed with intention, everyday life feels easier and just more enjoyable.

When our clients reached out, they shared their love for entertaining family and friends and wanted a home that welcomed everyone. That phrase became the anchor for
Project Room for Everyone.

In this post, we share how we transformed an unfinished area above a garage into a warm, inviting bonus space designed for movie nights, study, and everyday moments together.

There are so many thoughtful details in this project that we’ve divided it into two parts, so make sure to stay tuned for Part 2, where we’ll share more about this process and behind-the-scenes details you do not want to miss.

Project Room for Everyone Reveal - Part 1

Project
“Room for Everyone” began as a renovation already in progress. Our clients had already hired a contractor and started changing the unused space above their garage into a functional living area. But as the project moved forward, they realized they were overwhelmed by the number of decisions and reached out to us for help with a cohesive design that aligned with their vision.

You see,
contractors are great at executing a plan, but when you do not have the map to get you to your destination, you might find yourself overwhelmed, unsure about the many decisions, and second-guessing your choices. That’s when our clients reach out to us for help.

Our role became a full support, guiding the decision-making process and helping shape the space into something that felt both functional and beautifully designed.

So instead of starting from scratch, we jumped right in where our clients needed us: providing guidance to make their
space feel warm, inviting, and perfect for spending time together.

Keep reading to see how we achieved our client’s goal and delivered a unique design experience.

A Bonus Room Designed for Everyone

It’s hard to imagine how this space started as an attic and is now a bonus room designed for entertaining and relaxation.

Our clients wanted this space to become the perfect spot to watch movies, play games, host their friends, and have family hangouts. We reimagined the layout to make the most of the unique ceiling angles and natural light, creating a space that feels open yet comfortable.

To keep things practical, we used some of our clients’ existing pieces, including the family’s sectional and ottoman, bringing them upstairs where they fit perfectly. From there, we added in new elements: a rug, pillows, art, and a statement cowhide ottoman, to create a warm, inviting atmosphere.

Other thoughtful features we included were:

  • A  built-in snack bar with a mini fridge, to have everything at hand when hosting.
  • Custom cabinetry for games and storage
  • A cozy reading nook with a custom bench, perfect for a Sunday afternoon.

Every detail we planned was in line with our goal to make the space feel effortless and perfect for relaxing. Take a look at these before and after photos! Everything turned out even better than expected.

Adding a Touch of Personality

Our clients wanted their home to feel personal and meaningful.

We added these design elements that reflect their Texas roots without overpowering the room's overall feel:

  • The minimal longhorn art piece
  • Warm wood tones, including a live-edge table
  • Layered textures and rich, earthy accents.

The textured wallpaper takes center stage, providing this room with a pop of color while balancing the other elements inside. I love how it stands out without overpowering the other pieces in this room.

The roman shades add texture and bring softness to the design, while providing my clients with privacy when needed.

A Project Room for Study and Organization

Next to the bonus room, there’s a project room designed for schoolwork and projects.

The custom built-ins give plenty of storage for books and supplies to keep everything organized, as well as work surfaces for our clients’ kids' schoolwork. While simple, this space feels cohesive with the rest of the bonus room.

My favorite part of this project room? The natural lighting above the working stations. Ideal to catch the sunlight while working or studying. Just the perfect spot of light to increase productivity.

A Multipurpose Bathroom

In addition to the bonus room, we got to design our client’s guest bathroom, which is also their teenage daughter’s bathroom. We wanted to bring the best of both worlds and provide her with a lovely space while achieving the guests' bathroom functionality.

Our goal was to create a room that felt timeless while incorporating feminine details and softness.

Here are some of the elements we included:

  • A custom vanity with quartz countertops, for a classic and modern look.
  • Beautiful, uniquely shaped mirrors with a dash of golden color to increase the luxurious, spa-like feel in this design.
  • My personal favorite is the textured wallpaper with a grasscloth look. Just the right touch to make a statement.
  • The blue tile that balances the room to perfection

As I always recommend, mixing metals in your bath and kitchen keeps things interesting, and in this design, we combined polished nickel plumbing fixtures with warmer-toned lighting and hardware.

The final result is now a room that feels unique and functional.

Why Planning Ahead Matters

One of the biggest lessons from this project is the benefits of bringing a designer in early.

It’s better when you make all the finishes, selections, and decisions before construction begins, that way you avoid losing time or having to incur costly mistakes. The good news is that we were able to provide our clients with the guidance they needed and tackle every challenge properly. It is key to have a plan from the beginning.

For the next phase of their renovation, our clients are bringing us in before construction begins, and we’re excited to continue this transformation in the kitchen, living, and dining room. We can’t wait to show you all the details, so make sure you’re subscribed to our newsletters and get ready to be inspired.

At the end of the day, this project is a perfect example of what great design should look like: a home designed with intention, with room for everyone.

If you’re planning a renovation, or already in the middle of one, and feeling overwhelmed by decisions, we’d love to help you bring everything together and create a home that feels both beautiful and functional.
