When our clients reached out and shared how much they love to cook and use their kitchen daily, we knew we needed to do more than create a beautiful space and make it ideal for everyday life.

Their vision was a kitchen that felt light, clean, and high-end, with better storage, quality appliances and fixtures, and a layout designed around how they cook and live.

Their vision was clear: a clean, light, bright, neutral, high-end space. Functionality was a component we didn’t want to miss, as our clients mentioned they cooked frequently. 

We took that vision and approached this kitchen design in the following way:

• Create smarter storage: We looked beyond the existing layout for opportunities to add cabinetry and create more storage.
• Improve the island’s functionality: Rather than adding seating our clients wouldn’t use, we reimagined this island, adding more storage for everyday use.
• Invest in high-end essentials: Because our clients love to cook, we chose high-quality appliances and plumbing fixtures to create a kitchen that will function and last for years. 
• Lighting layers: We created a complete and balanced look through  layers of lighting to add warmth and dimension while complementing the kitchen’s clean, elevated feel.
• Choose timeless, high-end materials: We created a luxurious look by adding neutral finishes and quality materials that delivered the feel our clients were going after.

Here are some of the design decisions that made the biggest difference.

1. Turning an Underused Pantry Into Better Kitchen Storage

As you can see in the before photos, the original pantry took up a lot of space our clients needed for storage. The original pantry felt clunky, and we knew we could provide a more functional storage situation.

We extended the new cabinetry toward the mudroom and garage entrance. We added tall, pantry-style cabinets with rollout shelves that seamlessly blended with the rest of the kitchen. These cabinets created better storage and gave the kitchen the clean, cohesive look our clients wanted. 

2. Expanding the Island for Storage Instead of Seating

Since our clients decided they didn’t need stools at this island, but wanted to use it for meal prep and additional storage, we reinvented the space to make it more functional. 

We expanded the island and added shallow cabinetry along one side for extra storage, with deep drawers for easily accessible pots and pans.

The final result is a personalized place that works for this family. 

And that's an important part of good design: your home should work for the way you live, not simply follow what everyone else is doing or the latest trends.

3. Investing in the Things You Use Every Day

One thing that was clear in our design plan: our clients love to cook and prepare healthy meals at home, so we prioritized quality appliances that were high on their list from the start. We included a Wolf range and Wolf speed oven, with custom cabinetry needed to accommodate the appliances in the new design.

We took the same approach with the plumbing fixtures. Since this family will be cooking every day, they’ll reach for the kitchen faucet multiple times a day, so this is one area where investing in quality can make a real difference over time.

Because our clients also loved brass finishes, we chose satin brass hardware and plumbing fixtures to carry that warmth throughout the kitchen.

In the end, you’ll notice that luxury isn't only about how something looks; investing in the pieces you use every day can make your kitchen work better and make everyday tasks more enjoyable.

4. Creating Luxury With Neutral Materials

One thing we kept in mind throughout this design was that our clients wanted something light, bright, clean, and high-end, so we chose a neutral palette that wouldn't feel overwhelming.

Our clients loved a soft, neutral palette, so Taj Mahal quartzite was a beautiful fit for the countertops. The natural variation adds a little character while keeping everything calm and cohesive. We paired it with creamy white cabinetry and a simple subway tile backsplash for that light, bright look they wanted.

Our client also loves a little shine, so the glossy backsplash and countertops catch the light perfectly.

Another detail that adds warmth is the satin brass hardware and plumbing fixtures, which warm up the neutral palette, while sconces add accent lighting and another decorative touch.

Luxury is more than one great detail or element; it’s about material quality and how it all works together to create a cohesive look.

5. Warming Up a Light & Bright Kitchen

A classic white kitchen can feel fresh and timeless, but without contrast and texture, it can start to feel a little too simple. The finishing touches are what bring warmth and personality to the space.

For this kitchen, we included some natural wood accessories, greenery, and a runner to soften the neutral palette. The wood adds texture and natural warmth, the greenery brings life and subtle color, and the textile adds softness and texture underfoot.

And that's something you can easily add into your own kitchen. If you love a light, neutral palette, you don't need more color to make it feel inviting. You can add natural materials, greenery, and a few textiles to bring warmth and balance to the room.
