If you’re about to embark on the adventure of building your home from the ground up, this post is for you. Just like a good sailor needs a compass to arrive safely at their destination, you need
the help of an Interior Designer to ensure your project's success. So, keep on reading till the end to get all the details.

Hire the right help for your project
Building a new home is an exciting adventure best enjoyed when you have the right help to walk you through it. Having a team of experts assist you with your project will reduce your overwhelm and increase your confidence in making the best decisions along the way. Before starting your new home build, I recommend considering three professionals who will help you in different aspects:
- An architect looks at the project from the outside in. They will create the blueprints and make your vision a reality. Their expertise will help you land on the right choices for your project.
- A general contractor's job is to bring all those blueprints to life and deal with the nuts and bolts of the project.
- An Interior Designer looks at the project from the inside out and focuses on how you want to live day-to-day in your home. They will become your right hand by coordinating your project. They will act as a project manager to guarantee your project’s success. Imagine all the stress and overwhelm you can save from the beginning!
It’s also important that you take specific steps before hiring the right help, like setting a goal and a budget and getting some inspiration. To know more, read this article where I share the 7 essential steps to take before starting your remodel or construction project.
Now that you have all the information you need, let’s highlight some of the benefits of having an interior designer for your new home build.
#1. To Reflect Your Personal Style
When you hire a designer for your new home build, they will help you understand your design style from colors and materials you relate to the most, and how to translate that into reality. Your new home build will reflect your favorite things, lifestyle, and personality. Just think about it: Having an expert that gets your style and transforms that into reality is priceless!
In this Bedroom Project, my clients wanted a place to relax and call their own. So, taking a few pieces as inspiration,
we transformed this bedroom into a safe and comfy haven to rest, heal and recharge!

#2. Get The Best Guidance For an Ultimate Design
From figuring out the best placement for your furnishings and lighting to selecting the finishes for your rooms, having an interior designer walk you through your new home build will reduce the stress and overwhelm of making the hard decisions. Because of our architectural background, we know what works best and where to place it, and on top of that, knowing what you like, we will select the key pieces that will benefit your lifestyle.
For example,
in this project, my clients contacted me for a Dining Room Makeover. Not only were their dining chairs falling apart, but they were not easy to clean, and with 3 little ones, performance fabrics are a must.

#3. Involvement in Different Areas
Having a designer as a project manager for your new home build can be beneficial because their work is not only limited to decor areas but every aspect of the construction process. For example, designers will help review your plans, lighting, switches & outlet placement to see what works best for your needs. They can also help you coordinate any changes with your contractor. Having someone who will help you make the right decisions, often communicate with your contractor, and solve problems on your behalf will give you the peace of mind you need to enjoy building your home!
For this project, the builder initially designed the house with lots of natural light, which is great. However, two windows were in the family room on the only wall suitable for a TV. It didn't make sense even to have windows there, so we covered them up and designed some beautiful built-ins so the homeowners could have a fireplace, tv, and built-in storage on that wall.
Take a look at the before and after! We kept light and maximized the space.

#4. Reduce Stress in your Project
Isn't less stress what we want at the end of the day? I always tell my clients that their peace of mind is my priority. With many decisions to make, whether a new construction or a remodel, these projects are overwhelming. That’s why having someone to coordinate all areas of your new build and solve all the problems that arise is worth it!
A new construction is a big project that needs the right help, so don’t let the myths of working with an interior designer frighten you. Instead, ensure your project’s success and book a call with me to get started.
