One of the main benefits of working with an Interior Designer is having access to exclusive vendors, materials, and unique pieces that will last a lifetime.
So, whether you are considering renovating a room in your home or just selecting finishes, you do not want to miss this blog post.
I’ll show you what a design center looks like, what to expect, and a quick Q&A guide that will help you want to start your project right away!
What’s a Design Center?
It’s an interior design showroom where different vendors and suppliers showcase their products and materials to get a real feeling of the customized piece you’ll order for your home.
As a designer, it inspires ideas for designing a space and show you the latest trends in the design world.
The great thing about working with an Interior Designer is that you get access to exclusive materials and quality accessories so your customized furniture or window treatment can last a lifetime. In a few words, you’ll have VIP access to add quality, unique pieces to your space that reflect your personality and turn your home into a place you’ll love.
What to Expect When You Visit a Design Center
The first thing you’ll see when you enter the design center is a big showroom with multiple elements, from a kitchen center to sofas, dining chairs and more. There is something that meets everybody’s needs. I usually go with a plan in mind. Am I testing the furniture, getting a few samples to show to my clients, or soaking in all the trends for the upcoming months? Having a plan in mind helps me be efficient and maximize the results of my visit.
I can explore different vendors, get to know the quality of their products, and their production times. I want to make sure I make the best selections; that way, when we order custom upholstery it will arrive in the timeframe we had in mind. I always let my clients know what to expect in terms of timing.
And this is the most important thing about working with an Interior Designer. While you can walk into a Design Center and take a tour on your own, nothing compares to working with a professional who knows their way around, saves you time, money, and stress, and can guide you to make the right decisions for your space.
Look at the difference between having customized furniture and shopping in a general store. For this project, we removed an oversized couch that wasn’t helping with the room’s proportion and transformed the space using a
custom sectional with a performance fabric. Not only is it pet-friendly, as my client requested, but it has exceptional quality which will last a lifetime.

Design Center FAQ’s
Q: Do you offer personalized visits to the Design
Center as part of your services?
A: When you purchase my
Designer for a Day Package, we can use this 6 hour package to visit my Design Center to look at wallpaper, choose finishes, or help you select the best performance fabrics for your custom furnishings.
My full-service clients also have access to the design center. Some like to come and sit-test different sofas.
Q: Why do you source pieces from the Design Center rather than a retail store that will be cheaper?
A: It's not always cheaper. However, I believe in quality over quantity. Anyone can go to a retail store and purchase a sofa, but my clients want quality, customized pieces to fit their style and space. It's about making an investment that will last a lifetime, and that doesn’t happen with furnishings or window treatments that you get from retail or by purchasing online. Their life span is much shorter, and you’ll eventually spend more money to replace them.
Q: Does the Design Center have different pieces per design style?
A: Yes! In the Interior Design world, there’s no one-look-fits-all, and there is a wide variety of design styles when it comes to furnishings. That's the beauty of customizing a chair or sofa; you can make it yours. I'm grateful to my clients who put their trust in me for a project.
The Design Consultation is where I get to know my clients and their needs and wants. This is essential to creating their ultimate goal and vision.
