One of my favorite parts of what we do is sharing project reveals. There’s nothing better than seeing our clients’ reactions when their homes are completely renewed. Today, I’m excited to share Project Modern Comfort, a primary bedroom and bathroom renovation that is luxurious and perfectly tailored for our clients. Make sure to read through to the end to see the before-and-after photos and the design details that brought this project to life.

Project Modern Comfort Reveal
Project Modern Comfort began with a classic 1980s home in need of a complete refresh. Our clients loved their home, but their primary suite felt outdated, disconnected, and distant from the peaceful retreat they were craving.
Their ultimate goal was a space that felt polished and luxurious yet warm and cozy.
For the bathroom, we were looking for a more open, functional layout, so we fully gutted the bathroom and removed the walls to rework the entire layout.
With our design approach, we took our client's inspiration and ultimate goal and designed a serene, spa-like primary suite that feels both elevated and deeply personal.
Let's walk through the before-and-after of each room and the design details that made this project truly special.
Bathroom
As you can see in these before pictures,
the bathroom was cramped and outdated. It felt tight and awkwardly arranged. So many mirrors surrounded the oddly shaped vanity that it felt like stepping into a fun house at the local amusement park. The shower was small, dark, and cramped, and the materials throughout felt outdated and uninspired.
Our clients dreamed of an at-home spa experience, but the current layout simply wasn’t supporting that vision.
With our design approach, we transformed this space into a calm, spacious, and spa-like look.
The first step was to
change the layout to create a much larger shower complete with a generous bench for comfort and functionality. With a smarter floor plan in place, we introduced a freestanding soaking tub to elevate the space instantly.
To achieve that spa feel, we selected a soft blue subway tile for the shower and bathtub surround. We added floating shelves and a warm-wood vanity to add texture and a cozy touch, making the room feel welcoming.
Another thoughtful detail was the black plumbing fixtures and hardware, which added a subtle masculine edge and balanced the softer tones beautifully.
Lighting, as always, is key in a project. We added luxury with the capiz shell chandelier over the tub, which also created visual interest, while sconces flanking the vanity mirrors provide both function and a flattering glow.
One of the most meaningful details is the serene watercolor artwork sourced from a local artist. It reminds our clients of their favorite vacation destination and includes a personal touch that makes the space feel uniquely theirs.
Bedroom
When it comes to home renovations, one of the most important places to focus on is your bedroom. This room is your personal sanctuary, and it should be a cozy and comfortable space that truly feels like your own.
Before we started with this room, it felt very uninspiring. The bedroom had old carpet, builder grade paint, and no real connection to the homeowners’ style. It lacked personality, warmth, and storage. There was plenty of potential—it just needed thoughtful direction.
We started by updating the flooring, lighting, and paint to create a clean foundation. From there, we introduced custom-built-ins to maximize storage and added a window bench with a custom cushion beneath a newly oversized window, creating the perfect reading nook.
To add depth and texture, we included a blue grasscloth accent wall, while a palette of soft blues, crisp whites, and warm creams reflects our clients’ love of serene, timeless color.
The cream upholstered bed, layered with blue and white bedding, feels effortlessly luxurious. The light wood nightstands keep the space feeling casual and approachable, and the custom off-white window treatments
maintain an airy feel while softening the room.
Finally, the custom pillows introduce pattern and tie the bedroom to the bathroom’s color story. A bold artwork piece adds a punch of color and complements the area rug, pulling everything together in a cohesive, intentional way.
The result is a primary suite that feels comfortable, calming, and quietly luxurious—a modern retreat designed for everyday living.
What began as a dated 1980s space is now a warm and polished sanctuary where our clients can unwind after a long day. It’s proof that with thoughtful planning, cohesive design, and a clear vision, even the most outdated spaces can become something special.
If your primary suite feels more “before” than “after,”
we’d love to help you transform it into something that feels like your own personal retreat.
