Black and White Decor
January 14, 2020

If there is one color combination that I love and one that never goes out of style it’s black and white. It can be used year round with all seasons, but I think January is a particularly good time to introduce ways to use black and white decor in your home.

Read more about this teen bedroom makeover.

Black is classic and white is clean, and opposites attract. Use it with neutrals or throw in any pop of color for a wow effect.

I absolutely love a white house! If I could paint my brick white, I would do it in an instant! A white exterior with black trim paired with a modern farmhouse design is so charming and inviting. This gorgeous one in Salt Lake City is by Tiek Built Homes.

A black and white kitchen will never go out of style. This kitchen was one of the most popular on Houzz this past year. Notice the white wall cabinets with black counters and the black island cabinets with a white countertop. I’m in love! And, yes, it’s ok to mix and match.

What about a black and white bathroom? Would you paint your walls black or do you think it would be too dark? The thing is when you have contrasting colors like black and white; the white becomes brighter and stands out more. Notice how the white really pops against the black wall in this bathroom by Jenna Sue Design. I love how the wood beam and brass hardware really warm the space.

Ready for some ideas for your interior? I’ve put together a mood board with some favorite black and white decor items for your home that are easy to incorporate.

WHERE TO SHOP BLACK AND WHITE DECOR

  1. Geometric throw pillow – I love this pattern. Pair it with white or any other color.
  2. Leather throw pillow – Pair this with a black and white pillow and you have a very modern look.
  3. Abstract art – These would look great in a dining room!
  4. End table – This Mother-of-Pearl table is so beautiful!
  5. Table lamp – A classic lamp that would work in a living room or bedroom.
  6. Wood arm chair – I love the clean, modern look of these chairs, not to mention the great price.
  7. Area rug – This is a great pattern, and I love the tassels!
  8. Faux succulent – If live plants don’t work for you, use a realistic looking faux plant to bring some life into a room.
  9. Geometric square jars – These would look great on a shelf or in the kitchen.
