When my client called me back to design her living room and breakfast nook, I was thrilled. They wanted a design that would make a statement. So, take a look at this warm and colorful living room design and breakfast nook.

Lucky for me I get to work with an almost blank slate since this is a new build. The one item that the client requested to stay in the room is a large colorful piece of art. Perfect! I’ll pull the colors from that to make a statement. 

First, I selected a rug with similar colors to the art, and then used pillows and drapes to bring in more color, pattern and texture. 

This room has a beautiful stone fireplace with a tv mounted above the mantle, so a sectional was ideal for this family to relax. The coffee table has a slight rustic feel to it, which speaks to the stone fireplace.



The living room and breakfast nook are open to each other as well as the kitchen, so everything needs to flow well. I selected colors for the breakfast nook and kitchen to be similar to the family room but with a lighter feel. 

Everything is modern, yet casual and kid-friendly!

The white drapes soften the lines of all the windows in this nook and the new lighting adds just a touch of shine.
