It’s been a while since we did a project reveal, and I’m excited to share this one because we’ve been working on it for a long time, and I love how it turned out.
Our clients reached out to transform their dark, outdated spaces into brighter, inviting ones. So, in today’s blog post, I share with you how our design approach plays a vital role in this design and made this remodeling journey enjoyable for our clients. If you love before-and-afters and incredible transformations, it’s a must-read!
Before diving into all the content,
here’s a quick tip: start your remodeling project with the right tools.
Your first step is our Kitchen & Bath Remodeling Toolkit, which contains valuable information for your remodeling project. It’s the best way to start with less overwhelm, gather the tools you need, avoid costly mistakes, and enjoy the experience of designing!
Tailored Transitional Project Reveal
One of my favorite things to do is name my projects because it’s a fun and unique way to present them to my clients. For this project,
we knew we wanted to keep the transitional style, which my clients favored. However, since there are thousands of ways to do transitional, we wanted to create something unique to their needs and lifestyle, so I added the word ‘tailored’ because it’s personalized. We offer the solution they were looking for.
With every project, the client has a problem. Of course, we provide the solution.
The problem was that this home felt too dark and dated; the lighting was not our client's preferred style. The spaces needed new paint and updates.
As you can see from these before pictures, it needed a spruce up. Our client also requested neutral colors that felt warm and wanted their home to feel warm, inviting, cozy, and comfortable for family and guests.
With that request in mind, we provided a lighter, neutral paint color, updated lighting with a more modern vibe, all new finishes for the kitchen, and new furnishings for the breakfast nook and family room as a solution.
Let’s walk through the specifics of this remodel so you can get a closer look at our design approach and the solutions we offer to our clients!
Kitchen
The first step was to brighten up this space, and we did by selecting a warm white quartz with warm and cool veining running through it for the island.
Then, we selected a
leathered black quartz with white veining for the perimeter cabinetry and tied the two together with warm beige subway tile. Even the tile has variation throughout, which was one of my favorite details!
To create a timeless design, we painted the cabinetry a warm white and topped it off with brushed gold hardware to create a stunning look.
If you’ve been reading me for a while, you know I’m all about layers of lighting in my projects. In this case, the pendants are a favorite of mine and add that final touch and WOW effect.
Lastly, we sourced cognac leather barstools for more warmth. I love how each piece complements so well and elevates this space.

Breakfast Area
The breakfast area in your kitchen is a perfect place to add some personal touches. It gives you the perfect chance to complement what you have in your kitchen.
We sourced a black wood table, and complementary woven chairs that added to the warmth of the space. It’s unique and adds a lot of charm.
Family Room
When my clients moved into their new home in Waxhaw, NC—fresh from two years of living in Italy—the living room was a completely empty space. To us, it felt like a blank canvas, full of potential and ready for a transformation that would reflect their unique story and style.
In this space, our client had one key request: a table large enough for family game nights—and we made sure to deliver. The cozy beige sectional creates an inviting spot for entertaining, while a bold blue accent chair adds a stylish pop of color, pulling the whole room together with a touch of personality.
We styled our client's builtins with their current belongings and added a gorgeous rug that ties the room together.
We had a great time working with our clients to create a unique space for them!
The result is a cohesive, comfortable environment that invites you to slow down, stay, and relax.
