Traditional Living Room and Kitchen Design
March 10, 2020

I’m excited to share with you another client design project. My clients live in a beautiful home but are ready for a refresh! They are ready to go from yellow, green and red to cream and light neutrals with pops of soft blue. Let’s take a look at this traditional living room and kitchen design.

I always start a consultation by asking how my clients want to feel in their space. My client has a busy family. They want to come home to a space that is relaxing, warm and inviting as well as classy yet livable.

TRADITIONAL LIVING ROOM DESIGN

The main floor of the home will be painted a light warm gray in order to unify the spaces and help them flow better. The beautiful media cabinet and gallery frames will make a statement on the tv wall. The leather sofas add warmth to the space. Drapes and pillows of coordinating prints in light tan and pale blue add a touch of livable luxe here. For some finishing touches, I’ve selected artwork and a pair of boxwood topiaries for the fireplace mantle.

TRADITIONAL KITCHEN DESIGN

Currently the kitchen is a little dark with cherry cabinets and dark granite. The kitchen cabinets will be painted a soft, creamy white. The current dark granite countertops will stay to add contrast, but we will install a new backsplash. Then I’ve suggested dark bronze hardware to coordinate with the granite.

A gorgeous new chandelier will hang over the dining table and coordinating pendant lights will be installed above the island, which will bring a new layer of light to this space. I love how this lighting adds a touch of bling!

KITCHEN ACCESSORIES

My client loves soft blue so I’m bringing that with a new window valance and accessories.  Blue and white ginger jars, ceramic vases and wood accessories will add the finishing touches to this kitchen.

Since these rooms are open to each other I definitely want them to flow seamlessly.
