This formal dining room is perfect for hosting family dinners as well as larger holiday gatherings. The moldings and wainscoting bring lots of character to the space. Lots of natural light pours in throughout the day.
While the furniture is very traditional in style, I was able to give it a more modern vibe using paint, drapery and accessories. The color on the walls is Silvermist by Sherwin Williams. This color contrasts well with the traditional cherry colored dining room furniture. The drapes from Pottery Barn add softness to the rigid lines of the window and moldings. The tan stripe on the drapery adds detail and coordinates with the tan cushions on the dining chairs.
Don’t forget about art and accessories for your room! I love to hang a mirror in a dining room. It adds dimension and helps to open up the space. Accessories like the large art on the wall, the textured bowl and faux peonies add character and bring beauty to the room.
