Recently, I had a call with a potential client wondering should I hire a designer for my kitchen remodel? In this post I will explain the process and how to get started on that type of project.

SHOULD I HIRE DESIGNER FOR MY KITCHEN REMODEL?
Every project starts with a discovery call – this is a complimentary 15 minute call where you tell me about your project and I explain how I can help you. It’s a chance to see if we are a good fit for each other! This particular client had no idea where to start and had never been involved in a DIY home project.
My client would like to paint the cabinets and change out the countertops, backsplash, hardware and pendant lighting. That’s a lot of choices for a homeowner to make, and it can be overwhelming!
When thinking about a kitchen remodel, there are so many things to think about. Why? Because kitchen remodels are expensive. When it comes to buying and selling a home, everyone notices the kitchen. It can definitely increase a home’s value, and you want it to be done right.
The biggest expense is cabinetry and anything structural. If your cabinets are in good shape you might want to think about having them painted rather than tearing them out.
Curious about mixing metals? A designer will know exactly how to do that with your hardware, sink faucet, appliances and lighting.
My advice? Hire a designer to save you time and headache as well as to save you from making costly mistakes. You might love that trendy backsplash tile now, but will you still love it in 5 years?
Besides helping you choose all the materials and finishes for your kitchen, a designer will also coordinate with your home’s existing finishes. For example: if you have creamy white trim, you’ll want to choose a creamy white cabinetry color, not stark white.
HERE ARE THE WAYS I AM ABLE TO HELP WITH A KITCHEN REFRESH OR REMODEL:

After the complimentary call we book a consultation to dive deeper into the needs and wants of your project and then I am better able to guide you to one of my design packages.
In the end, I suggested to my potential client that she start gathering inspiration.
SOME THINGS TO THINK ABOUT:
- How do you use your kitchen?
- What elements do you want to have?
- Do you want a classic white kitchen?
- What style are you drawn to?
- What’s the budget?
- What is working vs. what is not?
