One Room Challenge Tween Bedroom
May 14, 2020

Welcome to Week 2 of the One Room Challenge. Last week I showed you my inspiration board for this One Room Challenge Tween Bedroom makeover. This week I tweaked my designs, created a 3D design board and finalized some of my decisions.

Once again, I am so excited to be a guest participant in the One Room Challenge!

INSPIRATION BOARD

You can call this the first draft of the makeover. My daughter and I had a general idea in mind, and after doing a little more research we made a few minor changes.

ONE ROOM CHALLENGE TWEEN BEDROOM 3D DESIGNS

We are deciding between these two designs for one part of her room. We know we want to add a built-in bookcase. My 11 year old client loves to read! Originally, I had planned to have one on a different wall, but our space ended up being just a bit too short.

So I’ve come up with 2 ideas. The first design uses one bookcase to the left of the bed and then a nightstand and lamp to the right to balance it out. Then I would create three large panels on the wall to go behind the bed and nightstand.

Asymmetrical

I love the symmetry in this design, however, because the bookcases will be built in, we won’t be able to change the size of the bed in the future without a major construction job. We will select a piece of art to go above the bed in a similar size with like colors.

Symmetrical

Can we talk about the gold swing arm lamps? I think they would be so cool, and my daughter loves the idea too! We would mount them to the sides of the bookcases.

Here’s a sneak peek at some textiles and accessories. Our Homegoods just opened over the weekend so I plan to be there in the morning to hunt for some other items.

The bedding has arrived, and we are looking at this teal pillow or this pink pillow for her bed too. I love the tassels!

I love this cute artwork from Target. The colors are just right for my design!

I have also selected the paint color and started painting yesterday. Tidewater by Sherwin Williams is the paint color I selected. After testing it in the room, I decided to lighten it by 50%. Next week I will be showing you the newly painted room!

What do you think? One bookcase or two? Honestly, I’m still deciding, but would love to know your thoughts in the comments. Thank you!
