After seven years, this space needed a master bathroom refresh, and for better functionality needed a light fixture over the jetted bathtub. Since the current fan, located outside the shower was being relocated inside the shower, it was the perfect time to add a light fixture over the tub. See the before picture here.
Please excuse the crooked i-phone photo, but this is the before shot taken at night. This bathtub gets a lot of use. The walls, painted Repose Gray by Sherwin Williams, is a lovely light neutral gray that has blue undertones, which is perfect for this bathroom.
I hunted for a chandelier that reminded me of water drops and found this one. I love the hanging crystals! Lighting will make a huge difference in your space, and I am so in love with how it transformed the space!
I was also keeping my eye out for some artwork to go on the wall. We didn’t want to spend a lot of money on artwork, but this bathroom needed a punch of color.
This is the mood board I created originally. The dark cabinetry and chrome fixtures were in great shape so we left that as is. I wanted to bring in blues, purples, and maybe a little bit of pink. These colors stand out well against repose gray. In the meantime, I found this gorgeous rug.
My love for blue runs deep! Again, this rug was an inexpensive find at Wayfair. I wanted something larger than your standard bathmat. In fact, this size is 3×5. The bathtub is large and so is the bathroom, so I needed to fill some space.
Etsy is a great resource for inexpensive art. All I had to do was download it to my computer, and then I had a local retailer print it on a 24×36 canvas. I found a small basket, which adds a little texture, at my local Homegoods to hold a few bath items. The orchid was purchased at my local Trader Joe’s.
I am loving the way it turned out! You don’t have to spend a lot of money to transform a space. This is an easy way to update the bathroom and liven it up!
