8 Rejuvenating Ideas For Your Bedroom in the New Year
Jan 19, 2022

Your bedroom is supposed to be your personal oasis; a sanctuary to rest and rejuvenate every night. However, if you are not careful, it is one of those spaces that can quickly get untidy and become a stressful environment to be in.

The New Year is a great time to make changes. If you are looking for ways to mix things up in your bedroom, or if you just want to make it as beautiful and as relaxing as possible, then these ideas will be perfect for you. This post will give 8 ideas for redesigning a bedroom.

8 rejuvenating ideas for your bedroom in the New Year

1. Create a soothing color scheme

One rejuvenating idea for your bedroom is a soothing color scheme. Painting your room a soothing color scheme is an effective way of making your room more relaxing. Some soothing color schemes include soft colors like lavender and blush, gray, and various shades of blue. Having a soothing color scheme for your room instantly makes the space more peaceful and tranquil.

Having a relaxing room is very instrumental in promoting healthy sleep. You can paint the entire room in one of the soothing colors. Alternatively, you could go for colored bedding and stick to neutral walls.

You can also play with patterns. As you settle on a soothing color scheme, you should play with patterns as well to transform your bedroom into an even more peaceful oasis. That said, you should avoid too many noisy patterns such as zig zags and polka dots since they aren’t relaxing. You could also get pillows and drapes which complement the color scheme and patterns.

If a neutral bedroom isn’t your style, but you still want your space to be relaxing, you could add a mixture of patterns. However, you shouldn’t overdo it so the space doesn’t feel busy or loud.

2. Deep clean

Clean spaces have a calming effect compared to ones that aren’t. Having a dirty and cluttered room will most certainly contribute to your stress since your mind will be fixated on whether or not you’ll find enough time in your busy schedule to tidy up.

Your bedroom should be your personal oasis to rest and recharge every night. This won’t be possible if your room is cluttered. You should, therefore, start by giving your room a deep clean. Doing so once every few months will make it easier to maintain a clean room.

You should thoroughly clean your room by mopping, dusting, washing the windows, and the baseboard. You should also make an effort to get rid of clutter as soon as things start piling up. Sleeping in a clean room will make it easier for you to sleep stress-free every night.

3. Paint your walls a dark color

You should also consider painting your walls a dark color. Dark walls give your room a simple but sophisticated look. The right dark color schemes are also quite soothing and are very helpful in helping you sleep better.

Some soothing dark color schemes that will surely give your room a relaxing and sophisticated look include deep red, rich blue, charcoal gray, and forest green. Dark colors help to trigger a calming sensation and create a dreamy atmosphere. This is effective in encouraging deep sleep.

That said, dark color schemes and dark walls can be intimidating to some people. If you are intimidated by dark color schemes, then instead of painting your walls a dark color, you could go for a darker bedding instead.

4. Get a cozy rug

Most people tend to overlook the importance of having a cozy rug in their rooms. A cozy rug with long soft fibers is great for adding warmth to your bedroom. This is true especially if you have hardwood or laminate floors. Having a cozy rug saves you the discomfort of having to step on a cold floor the first thing in the morning. Having your feet hugged by the soft fibers of a cozy rug could help set the tone of the day. Rugs also go a long way to make your space feel more comfortable

5. Start a bedtime routine

A bedtime routine is a simple lifestyle change that can be very helpful in reminding your mind and body that it is time to sleep. Humans are creatures of habit. Having a bedtime routine establishes habits that help your brain to recognize when it is time to sleep. Having a bedtime routine helps to put your mind at ease, making it easier to get a good night’s sleep. Your routine should consist of activities that help foster relaxation. Such activities include reading, journaling, taking a warm bath, meditation, or a soothing face mask.

Bedtime routines play an important role in reducing anxiety and late-night stress. Start by setting a bedtime. You should also leave electronics alone. Then practice relaxation techniques such as deep breathing to help you let go of physical and mental tension.

6. Keep decor minimal and functional

Having clutter in your room makes it feel cramped. Clutter makes it difficult to relax in a space and makes it hard to unwind at the end of the day. Getting rid of the clutter and keeping the decor minimal and functional will help ease your mind and reduce stress.

7. Include textured pieces

Adding textured pieces to your room will make your room visually interesting and can easily be done. If you are aiming for a relaxing and soothing space, incorporating soft textures will give your room a soothing feel.

You can also add more pillows to your bed to make it more inviting. Pillows make beds look comfortable, making it hard to resist falling asleep. Having matching pillows and matching bedding has an even more calming effect.

8. Bring natural elements into your room

Last but not least, you can bring nature indoors. Plants add color to your space without being too overpowering. They also bring a sense of well-being and life into your room. Plants such as fiddle leaf fig, and monstera are great to have in any well-lit room. You could play around with different planters and textures to sill a bare space in your room. In addition, plants are a reflection of your inner spirit. As you grow, they grow. Plants also have a soothing presence that will help you sleep better.

The tips outlined above should help you elevate your bedroom’s decor and add lots of character to it in the process. Your bedroom can finally become an extension of who you are as a person and a true sanctuary from the stresses of life.
