I have two great things for you today. First, I created a refresh your bedroom package in my services. Second, I have 6 tips for masculine and feminine design in the bedroom. There is a design board for you to shop as well.
I am so excited to introduce my Refresh Your Space packages. Under the services tab in the menu you’ll see “Refresh Your Space.” That means I have a curated design board all ready to go for you if you are looking to do a simple refresh. Currently, I have a bedroom package, but a living room package is coming soon. Check it out and let me know what you think! It’s perfect for a master bedroom or guest bedroom. It’s very calm and serene.
I think a lot of times, our bedrooms get over-looked, even though we spend quite a bit of time there. He likes modern shapes and bold colors while she like florals and soft colors. Many of us need to blend the masculine and feminine in the bedroom to create more of a sanctuary. So, how do you achieve that?

6 TIPS FOR MASCULINE AND THE FEMININE DESIGN IN THE BEDROOM
SHOP THE MOODBOARD
TEXTURES
In a bedroom, you generally have a lot of hard surfaces, like a dresser, nightstands, maybe an armoire, and they are usually made of wood. Mix it up by choosing an upholstered bed or headboard that brings in a softer, more feminine texture.
These nightstands have a more masculine feel. They are moody in color and have a bold design and shape. I love the navy dresser. I have one very similar, just in a light gray color that I painted. I’m thinking I would love to re-paint it navy!
The upholstered headboard has a more light and airy feel and leans more to the feminine side, however it blends nicely with the masculine furniture pieces. Opposites attract!
Adding a leather bench at the foot of your bed is one way to step up the edge factor plus it’s very functional. This may seem very masculine, but you can soften it by draping a soft and delicate throw on one end.
LIGHT & AIRY FABRICS
Since we spend around 7-8 hours in the bed at night, we definitely want a fabric that feels good to us. I recommend going with some quality bedding.
Read my post 7 steps to make your bed to see my recommendations.
In order to achieve a balance, choose some light & airy bedding. A duvet cover in white or blue is soothing but not too feminine. Add a patterned throw pillow or two for a more pop of feminine.
METALLICS
He might like black and silver while she likes gold. That’s just fine because you can mix your metals! Just make sure that you use the same metal in at least 2-3 areas or items in your room.
Example:
Brushed nickel – chandelier, lamps, & dresser hardware
Gold – mirror, picture frames & vase
PAINT COLORS
The paint color of your room can really set the tone. If you want a more moody feel in the bedroom then go with a darker color. If you want to keep it light and airy, use a lighter but more neutral tone. You can do both by painting an accent wall the darker, moody color with the rest of the room a light neutral.
ACCESSORIES
Mix the accessories for him and her. Put a vase of flowers on the dresser for her, add some candles, and hang a piece of bold, contemporary art on the wall for him.
LIGHTING
Nothing sets the mood like lighting. I love a chandelier in a master bedroom. It’s feminine yet it pairs so well with the masculine furnishings in the room. Like I said, opposites attract. Your bedside lighting can have a more gender-neutral feel like these sconces or table lamps. Use dimmer switches when you can.
TIP: use wall sconces to free up space on your nightstand. I have these in my master bedroom and love them.
That’s it! Do you feel like you can blend the feminine and masculine in the bedroom now? Don’t forget to check out my bedroom refresh package, and look for the living room refresh coming soon too.
